In conventional solar cells, excess energy from high-energy light is lost as heat (a).  


TwoPhold captures this lost energy by splitting a single photon into two usable charges, generating more electricity from the same sunlight (b). This enables solar cells to move beyond the conventional ~32% efficiency limit and approach ~44%.
